RCA cable can be used in various ways, most common are:
- Analog sound transfer
- Digital sound transfer (S/PDIF) (only one channel is used)
- Connecting subwoofer with home cinema / receiver (only one channel is used)
- Connecting satellite speakers with home cinema, receiver or speaker set
- Composite analog video transfer (only one channel is used; with two lines you can transfer video and mono sound)
RCA plugs are also referred as phono connector, cinch connector or simply A/V jack.
